This is truly a special opportunity to work with an internationally renown artist in the midst of the redwood forest's reach to the sea. The magic of Mendocino will inspire you: the workshops are not only about color and form, but about insight and deeper seeing. |

Pamela welcomes students of all stages of development to find their energy through art. As an artist in Pamela's studio, you will learn about drawing and design as the foundation of painting; the exciting use of color and and how to unleash the creative energy of your imagination. Sharing your feelings and goals and through individual guidance, you will explore a variety of techniques in different painting media in order to focus your artistic energy. You will be guided in developing your own unique style, to identify emergent energy within any given scene. You will discover how to connect with and transmit through paint the visual essence of a scene. For those who are interested in painting outdoors, Patrick an established plein aire painter, will work with you at your choice of a variety of locations. |

If
you are an advanced student, Pamela's Master Class in oils, illustration,
design, directional and portfolio analysis and art marketing are more
pragmatic. She will teach you how she sees and how to use oils to manifest
her vision. Pamela is not just an outstanding - she is a force in art.
She will share insights in marketing and product development. |

The first evening meet Pamela and Patrick and your fellow students at a reception featuring Mendocino Wines and hors d'ouerves.. The next morning, join other seminar members for breakfast or, if you rather, have a reflective breakfast looking over the grounds of the Stanford Inn out to Mendocino Bay. |

At 9:15 Neele Bryant, Director of Big River Nurseries, will take you on a tour of the Inn's expansive gardens, focussing on the vegetable and cutting gardens. During the tour you will be shown plants of the season and you will have an opportunity to ask questions regarding organic and natural growing methods, plants, and composting. After touring the gardens, join Pamela and Patrick to begin your exciting exploration into art. |

At 10:00
Pamela will begin working you. The work will pause for strolls through
the expansive gardens and for lunch in the herb garden. After lunch walk thrugh the forest with Pamela who
will explain her "seeing". |

After 5:00 - relax. This is a wonderful opportunity to swim or just kick back and enjoy the Stanfords' Solarium which encloses their pool, sauna and hot tub. If you are more adventuresome, you may choose to mountain bike along the coast. Finally, you may wish just to have a massage, which is included in experiential package, at Massage In the Forest. At 7:30 meet other students for dinner at the inn's acclaimed restuarant, watch the sun set, and share your experiences. Later, retire to the warmth of your room, reflecting in front of your wood fire. |

Begin the second day with a workout in the Inn's exercise room or walk through the grounds to Big River estuary and watch the the gentle tide moving up or down the river, Listening to the birds, you may find yourself followed by one of the Stanford's cats, always ready for an early morning walk. Breakfast alone, if you choose or join others in your session and then off to the studio for a second day of artistic and personal exploration. This day is for deepening - exploring the art and work begun the day before. |

| After lunch take an hour to explore Mendocino's galleries and then rejoin the work in the studio. The second day in the studio ends at 6:00 and the evening is left open for whatever you would like to do. Experience the village and one of it's unique restaurants.. |

Your last day begins with breakfast at 8:00 Pamela and Patrick and your fellow students at the Inn. If you wish to try Plein Aire, Patrick will take you to coast/town/ so that you can paint seascape, townscape or landscape, while those who wish continue their studio work. Lunch will be arranged based on your activity for the day, and at 3:30 you will join Pamela for a review and final critique/analysis. This last session is a time to share and acknowledge your progress. |

Pamela Silin-Palmer lives four miles up Comptche-Ukiah Road with her artist husband, Patrick Palmer. An artist and illustrator of books, Pamela also designs paper products and greeting cards and decorative pieces including fantastic furniture, murals, screens, wall coverings, and ceramic wear. This picture is unusual in that she is most often seen with Jack and Patrick. Jack is their English Bull terrier, the “beast” in her recent book, Bunny and the Beast. |
