1st Evening 5:30 - 7:30 Welcome Reception
1st Day 7:30 - 9:00 Breakfast (times are open)
  9:15 - 9:45 Garden Tour with Neele Bryant, Director of Certified Organic Big River Nurseries at the Stanford Inn by the Sea
  10:00 - 5:00 Art Experience and lunch at the Palmer Studio
  5:00 - 7:30 Free time (swim, take a walk, continue to explore the Inn's gardens, watch the estuary.
  7:30 Dinner with your seminar participants at the Ravens Restaurant
2nd Day 7:30 - 9:30 Breakfast
  9:15 Those who choose may continue to explore our gardens with Neele Bryant.
  10:00 - 5:00 Art Experience and lunch at the Palmer Studio and/or Plein Aire painting with Patrick.
  5:00 - on Evening is open
3rd Day 8:00 AM Breakfast with Patrick and Pamela at the Ravens.
  10:00 - 3:30 Final sessions; Continued Plein aire
  3:30 - 5:00 Critique and Farewell
A restorative 50 minute massage is included. You may schedule it in any open period, including evenings and mornings.
     
The cost for the Seminar is $1500 inclusive of tax for one person, single occupancy. For two participants double occupancy, the inclusive fee is $2250.
The cost of supplies is not included. The amount will vary depending your interest.

Japan Week 2004 - A Celebration of Japanese Arts

The Mendocino Art Center with the assitance of Dr. Shozo Sato (pictured on left) and Alcie Sato will be celebrating Mendocino's long history of association with Japan.

This association includes alternate year visits by Miasa, Mendocino's Sister City, Middle Schoo Students, Mendocino Middle School students.

The Celebration will feature Japanese Art, Dance, Music, Theatre, Ikebana - flower art, and the Japanese Tea Ceremony presented by Tea Master, ShozoSato

The Celebrations begin August 7th with a Nippon Matsuri - Japanese Festival featuring art, pottery, fibre, textiles, handmade paper, sumi-e music, food and much more.with a Reception with music, food, dance, a fashion show and exhibition of art by visiting artists.

In the evening of August 7th, a Reception and Opening including special exhibitions and performances and food provides and opportunity to meet and greet guest artists.

and the work of Mendocino Coast Cyclists to maintain safe and sensitive trails and the Mendocino Area Parks Association.

Celebrate Environmentally sensitive use of our
Newest State Park - Big River State Park

Ride along the north Big River Haul road and collect cards and create a poker hand for a chance to win a mountain bike, or other prizes. Paddle a kayak on Big River's estuary collecting cards to win a new kayak, a two night stay in a Stanford Inn suite or other prizes.

The bicycle route is 10 miles roundtrip and the kayak route 5 miles. Raffle participants pay $20 for one route or $40 for both.

This event is limited to 99 entrants, promising excellent odds to win a prize. There are 15 prizes!

The Psychology of the Doll

Creating dolls as an expressive arts tool

2 Sessions - Tentative Schedule

Saturday November 6, 2004 - 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM and 8:00 - 10:00 PM

Sunday November 7, 2004 - 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Dolls have been a part of human existence for at least 25,000 years.
From sacred ritual to child's play, they are metaphors for culture's search for meaning as well as an individual's relationship with oneself.

This class explores the psychological role of dolls throughout history and then focuses on how Doll Work can be integrated the self-exploration and empowerment process today. Educators, therapists, parents and small group facilitators may find the doll process a useful and powerful expressive arts tool. Students make several dolls in class using ancient and modern construction techniques. Beginning and advanced artists are welcome.

Presented by Gerry Olson Ph.D. Assistant Professor, Sonoma State University, Psychology Department. Dr. Olson has utilized the expressive arts in her for for 25 years and teaches in the area of psychology and the expressive arts.
